About Us
The office of Controller General of Accounts was established through CGA Ordinance (Appointment, Functions and Powers) in 2001. This office, being the premier accounting institution of the country, is primarily responsible for the authorization of payments, accounting and reporting of the financial transactions of the Federation. The detailed functions and responsibilities of the Controller General of Accounts have been laid down in sections 5 and 7 of the CGA Ordinance (Appointment, Functions and Powers) 2001.
The office of Controller General of Accounts performs its functions through AGPR, Provincial AGs and Self Accounting Entities (SAEs). This office prepares Financial Statements in the format of IPSAS Cash Basis-Financial Reporting under the Cash-Basis of Accounting that fulfils financial reporting requirements of International Financial Institutions (IFIs). Moreover, the Combined Financial Statements (CFS) of the Federation are prepared by using SAP/R3, a robust software, which is implemented across the country.
The office of Controller General of Accounts is playing a pivotal role in the implementation of PFM Reforms besides embarking upon new initiatives like online bill submission, Micro Payment Gateway (MPG) and Biometric Verifications Services (BVS) of pensioners to ensure transparency in financial transactions and accuracy of Financial Statements of the country.
